Terms and Conditions
Effective 17 September 2026 · Lagos, Nigeria
Short version. Draw, study, teach and sit tests. What you make is yours. Be decent in rooms, don't cheat in sittings, don't break the service. Examiners own their papers and their results; we run the sheet they are sat on. AI features are study aids that can be wrong. Pro is a subscription you can cancel any time, and it is not live yet. We provide the app as it is and limit our liability to what the law allows.
1. Who we are, and what the app is
ScholarsNode Ink ("the app") is operated by ScholarsNode Edu Tech Limited, Lagos, Nigeria ("ScholarsNode", "we", "us"). It is a drawing and study app: an ink engine with brushes, layers and measuring tools; live rooms where people draw and talk together; classes that can ring their members; computer-based tests ("CBT") sat on the same sheet; and virtual science labs. It runs on Android, on the web at ink.scholarsnode.ng and on Windows. By installing, opening or using the app you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
ScholarsNode is not a school, an exam body or a certifying authority. A CBT you sit in the app belongs to the school or exam body that set it (the "examiner"); its questions, rules and results are theirs. We are the software the paper is sat on. Nothing in the app is a promise about the outcome of any real examination.
2. Definitions
Sheet or drawing — a document you make in the app, with its layers, strokes, text, images and items. Room — a live session hosted by one user in which others draw and talk on the host's sheet. Host — the user who opened a room or created a class. Class — a named group with a code that members subscribe to, which the host may ring. Examiner — the school, teacher or exam body that set up a CBT and issued its access code. Sitting — one attempt at a CBT. Extension — an app that runs inside the app (the CBT app, Science labs). Guest — a user who has not signed in. Pro — the paid plan described in section 10.
3. Accounts and eligibility
You may use the app as a guest, or sign in with Google to get a ScholarsNode account; the same account serves the rest of the ScholarsNode platform. One person, one account. You must give us true information and keep your device and sign-in secure. Actions taken through your signed-in account are yours; tell us at once if you believe it has been compromised and we will lock it.
The app is for students and teachers of all ages. If you are under 18 you may use it with the consent of a parent, guardian or school, who is responsible for your use. Schools and teachers who create classes, host rooms or run CBTs for their students are responsible for their students' use within them and for having the permissions they need to process their students' data.
4. Guest use
Guest work stays on your device. If you lose the device, clear the app's data or clear your browser's site data, guest work is gone; we hold no copy and cannot restore it. Sign in before it matters and your sheets come with you. Guests may sketch and watch rooms but may not collaborate in rooms, sit CBTs, post reviews or subscribe to classes.
5. Your content
Drawings, notes, images, messages and everything else you create or import remain yours. You give us only the licence needed to run the app: to store, transmit, convert and display your content so that it can be drawn, synced, exported and shown to the people in a room you joined. When you draw in someone else's room, your strokes become part of that room's sheet, which the host keeps; when you host, the strokes others add become part of yours. You are responsible for having the right to use anything you import or share, and for what you say in chat and voice.
6. Rooms, classes and conduct
- Hosts run their rooms: they may mute, remove and block participants, lock what others may touch, follow the class to their view, and turn the voice filter and live captions on or off.
- Do not record other participants' voice, video or screen without their consent. The app has no recording feature; captions are shown live and not kept.
- Do not upload or say anything unlawful, hateful, harassing or sexually explicit, or anything that infringes another person's rights.
- Do not impersonate anyone, share another person's access codes or class codes against their wishes, or ring a class for anything other than its sessions.
- Class rings are delivered like calls and can sound through Do Not Disturb; by subscribing to a class you agree to be rung for its sessions. Unsubscribe at any time.
7. Computer-based tests
The examiner's paper. Questions, subjects, per-subject counts, time limits, shuffling, the number of attempts and whether answers are revealed are set by the examiner; the app enforces them exactly. An access code is personal to the candidates it was given to. Your answers, results and sitting log are shared with the examiner as our Privacy Policy describes; disputes about marks, rules or results are between you and the examiner, and we will not alter a result.
Fair sittings. The app records when it lost and regained focus during a paper and the timing of your moves and answers, and shows the examiner that log. On Android, a secure sitting blocks screenshots, screen recording, sharing and mirroring of the app. Attempting to defeat these protections, to sit for someone else, to obtain or leak a paper's questions, or to collude during a sitting is a breach of these terms; the examiner may void your sitting and, where their rules say so, report you, and we may suspend your account.
Study aids. Practice questions, explanations, the question chat and marking of written answers are produced by an AI model and are study aids. They may be wrong. Answer keys worked out by the model for imported papers are marked as such. None of this changes the examiner's key or your official result.
8. Extensions and Science labs
Science labs are simulations. They illustrate apparatus and procedures; they are not safety instructions for a real laboratory and must not be relied on as such. Ratings and reviews of extensions are public: write about the extension, not about people, and do not post anything unlawful or misleading. We may remove reviews that break these terms.
9. Artificial intelligence
Some features are produced by an AI model provided by a third party (see the Privacy Policy, section 9). AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date; check it before you rely on it, especially for examinations. Do not enter other people's personal data into AI features. AI output is provided as is; you are responsible for how you use it.
10. Plans and Pro
The Free plan is free for as long as you like: unlimited drawings on your device, folders, the Basics and Tools brush packs, joining rooms and classes, and CBT practice with the sample paper. Pro is not yet on sale. When it launches, it will be billed monthly or yearly at the price shown in the app at the time — on Android through Google Play Billing, on the web through a payment provider — and will renew until you cancel. Cancel any time and Pro stays active to the end of the period you paid for. Refunds follow the store's or provider's policy, which we will link when Pro launches. Prices may change for future periods with notice in the app; the price of a period you already paid for never changes. Until Pro launches, nothing in the app charges you and no payment details are collected.
11. What you must not do
- Cheat in, or help anyone cheat in, a sitting; defeat or attempt to defeat the secure-sitting protections; obtain, copy or distribute a paper's questions.
- Access another person's account, data or room without permission, or probe, scan, overload or interfere with the service or the servers behind it.
- Copy, reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape or resell the app or its engine, brushes, fonts, question banks or catalogue, beyond what the law expressly allows.
- Use the app to harass, threaten, defraud or impersonate anyone, or to distribute malware or unlawful material.
- Use rooms, chat, reviews or rings to advertise, spam or recruit.
- Automate access to the service without our written permission.
12. Availability and changes
We work to keep the app available and to keep your synced work safe, but the app is provided as is and as available. Live rooms depend on your network. We may change, add or withdraw features, including beta features, at any time; if a change materially reduces what a paid plan offers, we will tell you and you may cancel. Keep your own copies of anything important by exporting it.
13. Intellectual property
The app, its ink engine, brushes, design, question-bank software, catalogue, documentation and the ScholarsNode and Ink names and marks belong to ScholarsNode or its licensors. Open-source components are used under their own licences, listed in the app. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app; they transfer no other rights.
14. Suspension and ending
You may stop using the app at any time and may delete your account as our Delete account page describes. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the law, cheats or helps others cheat, abuses other users or our staff, or presents a risk we are unwilling to carry; where practical we will tell you why. Sittings you completed remain with the examiner who administered them, with your name removed once your account is deleted.
15. Liability and indemnity
We are not liable for the content, conduct or promises of other users, examiners or schools; for results, marks or admission decisions made by anyone using our software; for guest work you did not save or sync; for losses caused by your network, device or third-party services; or for indirect or consequential losses. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims in any twelve months is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in those twelve months, or ₦10,000 if you paid nothing. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights as a consumer under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act. If your breach of these terms causes a claim against us, you will compensate us for what it costs. We are not in breach for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
16. Complaints, law and disputes
Complaints about the app go to support@scholarsnode.ng first; we answer within a reasonable time. Complaints about a CBT go to its examiner. Complaints about your data may also go to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State have jurisdiction, without taking away consumer protections that apply where you live.
17. Changes to these terms
We may amend these terms. Material changes reach you in the app before they take effect, and the date at the top is always the current version. Using the app after a change takes effect is acceptance of it.
